Your life would be much easier if you know the diameter of many common things. Sure, using tape or a scale to measure something is quite simple, but you aren’t always carrying such things with you, are you? So, if you need to measure anything in the kitchen or at a formal dinner party, you can use a butter knife. But don’t forget to wipe off the butter of the knife first.

2. Paper clips

You most likely know what paper clips are. You know, the fasteners that bind paper sheets together and are often formed of steel wire twisted into a closed elongated “U” looped shape? Yeah, those.

There are numerous types of paper clips, but the Gem clip is the one that is most widely used. And, these also come in a range of sizes but the standard length of the colorful, oblong-shaped paperclips is approximately 1 inch. We always seem to have debit or credit cards with us, and they are virtually all of the same length. Chances are, you most likely have a credit card in your wallet right now. These rectangular-shaped, metal, or plastic cards are typically issued by banks or other financial services providers and allow users to borrow money with ease. However, the corporate doesn’t realize that they can also be used for measuring things.

Given that a conventional credit or debit card is typically 3.2 to 3.5 inches long, lining up two of them will yield a length of about 7 inches. If there isn’t a scale around and you need to measure something, you can use your credit or debit card.

4. Salad Plates
